Great Circle: A novel

Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead is an epic historical novel about ambition, freedom, identity, and two women determined to shape their own lives across different eras.

Marian Graves discovers a passion for flying as a teenager in Montana after seeing barnstorming pilots. Determined to become an aviator, she pursues flight despite the risks and limitations placed on women, eventually setting her sights on an extraordinary journey around the globe by way of the North and South Poles.

A century later, actress Hadley Baxter is cast to play Marian in a film about the aviator’s mysterious disappearance in Antarctica. As Hadley immerses herself in Marian’s life, the two women’s stories begin to echo each other in unexpected ways.

Sweeping from Prohibition and World War II to present-day Hollywood, Great Circle is a richly researched novel about adventure, sacrifice, fame, and self-determination.
