Ladybug, Ladybug is a 1988 novel by W. O. Mitchell that follows a retired English professor whose quiet life changes when he takes in a young woman and her daughter. What begins as a hopeful new family arrangement is shaken when a disturbed former student reappears, stirring up fear, old wounds, and long-buried memories.

As the professor works on a biography of Mark Twain, he also confronts his own loneliness and the troubles he’s carried for years. It’s a thoughtful, character-driven story filled with emotion and tension.
