Description

Stories from the Pilgrim’s Progress, compiled by E. A. MacDonald, is an antique children’s religious book published by The Sunday School Union in London as part of The Red Nursery Series. This copy is inscribed “Queenie Bowslaugh, Grimsby, Ontario, Christmas 1909,” showing that it was in circulation by Christmas 1909 and was likely published around 1908–1909.

Adapted from John Bunyan’s classic Christian allegory, this edition presents The Pilgrim’s Progress in a form suited to young readers, offering moral lessons, spiritual reflection, and traditional Sunday school storytelling. Its early inscription also gives the book added charm as a piece of Ontario family and religious history.

A meaningful choice for collectors of antique children’s books, Christian literature, Sunday school books, Bunyan adaptations, and early twentieth-century religious publications.

Hardcover, Ex-Library, Good. Heavy rubbing and wear to the covers. Fraying at the spine ends and corners. Spine faded and clear taped. Some cracking visible at the hinges. General shelf wear.
