Description

The Amateur Spy by Dan Fesperman is a gripping, modern espionage thriller set in the tense aftermath of 9/11. Burned out from years of humanitarian aid work, Freeman and Mila Lockhart retreat to what they hope will be a peaceful new life on a quiet Greek island. That peace shatters almost immediately when Freeman is confronted by strangers who know far too much about his past and force him into a dangerous act of espionage.

Blackmailed into spying on an old Palestinian friend in Jordan, Freeman is drawn into the volatile complexities of the Middle East, quickly realizing he is outmatched and deeply vulnerable. At the same time, in Washington, D.C., a grieving Palestinian-American couple struggles with the loss of their daughter, setting off a chain of events that leads them into the same dangerous world Freeman now inhabits.

As the storylines converge, loyalties blur and suspicion reigns. Fesperman delivers a tense, intelligent thriller where trust is fragile, motives are unclear, and the personal costs of global politics are devastatingly real.
