Buckley mixes real historical figures and events, including Martin Luther and the selling of indulgences, with over-the-top adventure and comedy. The result feels like a medieval caper with the spirit of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It’s especially enjoyable for readers who like historical fiction with clever dialogue, satire, and irreverent humour.
